Preparing Your Ministry to be Trauma-Informed

Participants will be trained in an Introduction to Trauma-Informed Care and prepared to teach the session to their own ministry teams.  Participants will leave with a leader’s guide, PowerPoint slides, and handouts to use as they introduce trauma-informed principles into their ministry space – along with a practical guide for next steps in the process of becoming a trauma-informed ministry.

Presenters

Julie Cooper

Julie Cooper has worked with vulnerable children for 25 years both nationally and internationally. As the SVP of Training and Curriculum for Trauma Free World, she creates and delivers curriculum focused on helping adults be the safe person in the life of a child from abuse, neglect, or trauma. Julie and her husband have 6 children.

Ann Smith

Ann has been working with vulnerable populations for more than 15 years and has a passion for helping people find healing from trauma. She
spent 10 years in East Africa working together with national caregivers to care for vulnerable populations. Her focus was on holistic development using a trauma informed approach to provide community development, trauma sensitive education, and family style care where
needed.

She especially loves equipping people to become Affiliate Trainers in Trauma Competent Care and encouraging them as they minister to others in their own culture, language, and context. Over the last three years, she’s seen the Affiliate Trainer program grow from 60 trainers to more than 200 trainers, serving in more than 25 countries! 

In her spare time, she can be found drinking coffee with friends and enjoying nature.
